Lori Malone is founder and CEO of Category5, a brand design and marketing firm for commercial and residential building product manufacturers. She has led Category5 (formerly Malone Group Design) since 1989.

Malone is the creator of 5Forces Marketing TM, a building product specific marketing approach that has at its foundation a process for calculating a building product’s total benefit to customers. The equation is based on the product’s unique interplay with costs, health, eco, codes and credits (tax, energy and LEED) – five significant forces that impact all building products.

The 5Forces marketing approach focuses buyers on a product’s long term total benefit and provides clients and consumers with the information they need to make decisions based on a product’s total value.

Malone graduated from University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in fine and commercial art (dual major) with a minor in piano and an emphasis in engineering. She also studied design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. A lifelong student of Peruvian archeology, Malone has also traveled extensively throughout Peru.
